RADIO IN TAMALE

There was a time when Tamale was the breeding ground for exceptional radio presenters who seamlessly transitioned into national newsrooms and studios, quickly becoming stars in their own right.
Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini, for instance, made a remarkable leap from Diamond FM to Metro TV, where he became an instant sensation. It was no surprise when Radio Gold snapped him up, recognizing his talent. He went on to become a major draw and the pride of the station.
Benard Nasara Sayibu also charted a stellar path. After honing his craft at Diamond FM, he joined Joy FM, where his talent and charisma propelled him to the esteemed position of host on the iconic Super Morning Show, once helmed by legends like Komla Dumor and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
Black Rasta moved from Radio Savannah and wherever he has been to, from Hitz FM through to 3FM, he has remained an international star.
As for yours truly, I transitioned from North Star FM to GBC, where I made my mark as a standout in the National Newsroom. I had the privilege of anchoring some of the most important programs on Radio Ghana, GTV, and GBC News. I even had a show named after me on State Television!
Then there was DJ Gadafi, who moved from Fiila FM and instantly captivated audiences. His flawless skill left people asking, "Who is this phenomenal DJ?"
Sadly, the golden age of Tamale’s radio presenters seems to have faded. Today, many seem content with being "local champions," relying on mudslinging, insults, baseless allegations, self-aggrandizement, and a desperate thirst to trend, rather than pursuing excellence and professionalism.
But let me hold my peace. What do I even know?
