Bold Solutions VRs Bold Lies; Which One Should Ghanaians Opt For?

Over the weekend, the Member of Parliament for the Salaga South Constituency of the Savannah Region, Hajia Zuwera Ibrahim, told an award-winning lie to the effect that a program dubbed "DRIP" (District Roads Improvement Programme), which was thought of and put into action by the Nana/Bawumia government to improve on inner and outer roads in districts with bad roads, was sponsored by Members of Parliament of Ghana through their Common Fund.

Hajia Zuwera told this naked lie cheerfully in the presence of a revered Paramount Chief, the Klaw Wura in the Abromase area of the Constituency.

The presence of the Paramount Chief of the Klaw traditional area should have served as a premonition to the MP to have changed her mind on her well-rehearsed lies, but instead, she proceeded to tell the lie in gross disrespect to the institution of Chieftaincy, and to unsuspecting and vulnerable youth of her Constituency.

She further lied that the equipment was coming, and would be used to construct roads, and thus NDC should also share in the credit.

After listening repeatedly to the said video, I started to wonder whether the lawmaker made those lies unconsciously or that she meant it from deep down her heart.

The furore that accompanied her naked and strange lies did not push her to retract and apologize; she kept quiet in defence of this legendary and mythological untruth.

The lie of Hajia Zuwera, who purports to be a devout Muslim, and has travelled to the Holy Land of Mecca to perform Hajj, beats my imagination. Her case is one clear example of why politics is widely described as dirty and decent people fear going near it.

Whilst the NPP, led by its Flagbearer and Leader, Dr. Bawumia, is proposing BOLD solutions for the future, the NDC, led by its Member of Parliament for Salaga South, is rather embarking on BOLD lies now and for the future. Their desperation to have a retired President back to the presidency is fueling their strange and shameful lies.

Ghanaians should use this opportunity to let the NDC know that contrary to the belief within their circles that Ghanaians were full of short memories, Ghanaians rather have sharp memories, and should be rejected alongside their lies on December 7, 2024.

It is unacceptable for power-seeking politicians to promise and propagate  lies as a strategy to winning political power.  This should not be accepted in any form or shape, but rather be rejected and condemned unanimously by all decent loving Ghanaians.

The youth of the country should not grow to believe that lies are normal and lawful in Ghana, and leaders like some members of Parliament can lie and be rewarded for their shameless lies.

The people of Salaga South must punish Hajia Zuwera for her high appetite for naked lies on December 7, to make political lies unattractive.

Truth must reign, and not lies.

Thanks.

Chief Akilu Sayibu,

Tolon constituency
