On this day of World Health Day celebrated under the theme "Health for All '', Health Professionals for Bawumia wish to commend Dr. Bawumia for his vision in digitalizing all sectors of the economy including health. 

Health Professionals for Bawumia which is a volunteer group of Ghanaian health professionals acknowledge how Dr. Bawumia's digitalization efforts in the health care sector has phenomenally not only improved access to health care but also significantly improved the delivery of health care to Ghanaians. Some of these initiatives which include medical drones, national electronic pharmacy platform, electronic records system in hospitals and digitized national health insurance have since their implementation improved the concept of universal health coverage in Ghana.

Indeed, at a Global World Health Organization (WHO) conference in March 2023, the Regional Director of WHO South-East Asia Region emphasized the importance of digital health by saying "Digital health is a critical imperative today as it can democratize healthcare and fast track what our Region has been working intensely towards since 2014 - the universal health coverage”. This fact was reiterated by the Minister of Health for India with the statement “Digital health is a great enabler in delivery of health care services and has the potential to support overall universal health coverage targets". 

It is therefore our strong conviction as health professionals who have first hand experience of the effectiveness and efficiency of these digital initiatives that Dr. Bawumia deserves all the commendation for his vision. Consequently, we believe Dr. Bawumia should be given the needed support to achieve a significant portion of his vision which we believe will brighten Ghana's road to achieveing Universal Health Coverage. 

We call on all health professionals who are delegates of the New Patriotic Party to rally behind Dr. Bawumia during the Presidential primaries. With Dr. Bawumia, it is possible to break the 8 and it is possible to achieve universal health coverage.
