It is with the greatest hope of peace, joy and happiness that I am thinking about NPP Special Electoral College event on Saturday 26th August 2023.
The main usefulness of the election is to seive the 10 aspirants to 5.
Then the 5 aspirants will pitch to about 208,000 NPP grassroots members.
The elected aspirant with 50 plus 1 per cent votes would be duly elected and presented as NPP flagbearer 2024.
The winner must attract a minimum of about 105, 000 NPP Delegates' votes.
What does the elected winner represent?
1. NPP's future
2.Good Faith of Delegates
3. Public Trust
No aspirant can be NPP's candidate for Election 2024 if he doesn't win the Special Electoral College Delegates trust.
So what is earning a Delegate's trust?
It simply connotes
1.Faith, Confidence, Assurance, Credence, and Acceptance of the aspirant by the majority of the Delegates of NPP.
In NPP, the National Conference is our biggest decision- making body. Yet the acclamation done involves work usually done by the National Council and its Committees.
This implies that our 955 Special Electoral College Delegates are NPP leadership and major leaders of the NPP.
We the remaining Delegates respect this 955 as our topmost leadership.
These are the leaders who are the Frontline face of the NPP.
I can't appreciate how such a body's vote can be ridiculed and discounted.
NPP is represented at any top notched fora or meeting any only members chosen from these 955.
These 955 Special Electoral College Delegates of today's NPP encompasses NPP's honest deliberations. They offer NPP's honest belief, purpose, faithful performance of duties, respect for fairness, absence of fraudulent intent, sincere intention and faithfulness to their assigned duties and obligations to NPP.
I am at a loss for words in public space to ridicule the 26 August election.
We have 275 parliamentarians who are worthy reps of the 32 million Ghanaians
All their decisions need no consulting with their various constituencies.
Yet it is generally respected that their votes in parliament is the views of those who voted for or against them.
The irony for me is the shifting of the goalposts discourse about the results to be declared on 26 August.
Let us dissuade from hurting the NPP ticket but boost our next Flagbearer public trust.
I believe that the person who obtains more than 51% of the 955 votes will obtain over 110,000 on 4 November 2023.
To obtain 478 votes out of 955 is doable and 9 others need to share less than 477 votes.
What thinking can miniscule such a feat in November results.
Let us value NPP's 955 Delegates votes and choice.
NPP is a going concern.
