Interestingly, Tamale South Constituency is among the top 20 densely populated Constituencies in the Country with an estimated voter population of 113, 781 per the 2020 Electoral Commission's data base. It constitutes both Urban and Rural folks with diverse Religious, Gender and Ethnic backgrounds.

The Constituency since its formation in 2004 from Gukpegu/Sabongida Constituency has been dominated by the National Democratic Congress, NDC. However, despite its dominance by one legislature (MP), the Constituency is bedeviled and engulfed with lots of challenges in the area of human capital development, job opportunities, physical Infrastructure i.e Schools, Hospitals/Clinics and Roads, etc.

In strict sense, the Constituency needs a new direction of leadership with the requisite skills, capacity, experience and development oriented. A leader with great sense of humility and positive influence. In short, a people leader.
