P.K. Sarpong writes;

Though the National Council voted and rejected their calls for a centralized electoral system, they are still insistent on the point that the super delegates congress should be held in one location.

If this latest demand is ignored by the party’s top hierarchy, then three possible options would be explored by the Gang of 9.

1. They intend to ask 5 of them to withdraw from the super delegates contest so that there will not be any need to hold any election on August 26 since there would be 5 aspirants in all.

2. They have also considered going ahead with the Super Delegates elections and should Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong garner 30% between them, the one with the most votes would be selected by the Gang of 9 to contest on their behalf against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

3. The third option considered by the Gang of 9 is to choose between Alan Kyeremateng and Ken Agyapong without going through the Special Delegates Congress.

All these are being done just to ensure that Dr. Bawumia doesn’t become the party’s flagbearer. One can simply say that the Gang of 9 members are only flogging a dead horse.

No matter what they do, Dr. Bawumia will lead the NPP in the 2024 elections. These moves would rather solidify the chances of the Vice President in the race. This plot will amount to naught.
