The name Mahamudu Bawumia is not new When it comes to telling the success stories of the New Patriotic Party and Ghana at large. Is not by coincidence that  Dr Bawumia has taken the centre stage of modern politics in Ghana and beyond  his quality contributions and sacrifices to the country's economy since 2001 has won him such an overwhelming recognition politically, domestically and globally .

In 2001 when John Agyekum Kufour took over the presidency from Jerry John Rawlings who had left a tattered economy.

The Government of former President Kufuor decided in 2001 to opt for the enhanced debt relief in order to stabilize the economy. Ghana's economy in 2001 was characterised by rapid exchange rate depreciation, high inflation and very low external reserves, which resulted from imprudent policies as well as high debt service payments.

President Kufuor at that time fell on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for solutions. Dr. Bawumia was then appointed as chairman of the delegation for the HIPC negotiations. It is important to note that, it that negotiation led by Dr Bawumia in 2001 that has brought Ghana this far.

Again, Dr. Bawumia within that same period played a key role in the re-denomination of the Cedi. Dr. Bawumia was instrumental to the success stories of Former President Kufuor's regime.  His contribution in 2012 to the NPP is of public knowledge and needs not to be repeated. Of course it is his contributions in 2012 that won the party the 2016 elections and subsequently his performance and competence in 2016 arguably  won the party the 2020 elections at a time all economic indicators were posing a positive outlook , growth were seen at every sector of the economy with so many innovations to his credit ie. NABCO and the rest. 

From the above mentioned contributions by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the NPP  it would be extremely unfair for anyone to say that, Dr. Bawumia is new in the party and does not deserve to lead the party as the flagbearer and that he should go and join a certain perceived queue to quote the Akan proverb, *" The one who has helped grind also deserves to taste it"* . Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indeed paid his dues to the party and deserves to lead the party and besides he has speciality in winning political power. He has done that for two consecutive elections and stands the chance of doing that for the third time.

As I have always say among the candidates seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party, it is only Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who can campaign on his strength and achievements to win against Former President John Mahama and the NDC. For this reason and many other reasons I humbly entreat delegates of our party to vote massively for him to lead us to victory.
