Alhaji Abubakar Boniface Siddique’s Outrageous Claims: Same Old Dirty Tricks

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a party of values, principles which has always provided hope for Ghanaians even in the nation’s dark periods of dictatorship. Pessimism is unknown in the NPP’s dictionary and patriots have always at all times maintained hope with a determined winning spirit against all odds. However, it appears some party members have allowed their personal interest and greed to dampen the winning spirit that should be characteristic of every patriot leading them to make utterances aimed at weakening the fortunes of the party. One of such people is Alhaji Abubakar Boniface Siddique, the campaign manager for Alan Kyerematen, who has made some outrageous and baseless claims in a campaign video that has gone viral on social media. He claimed that if Alan Kyerematen was not elected as the flagbearer of the NPP, the party would go to opposition for 40 years. He further, in an unintelligent manner, sought to claim that his boss Alan Kyerematen and himself have not benefited from the 7 years of NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo. And so according to him, those who have benefited from the past 7 years of government should retire with the government and allow those who have not benefited to take over.
In the first place, what is it with supporters of Mr. Kyerematen that all their campaign messages are aimed at providing arsenal to the opposition NDC? If he claims opponents of Mr. Kyerematen who were part of government for the past 7 years should not be voted but be allowed to retire with the government, then what will he tell Ghanaians if the NDC tells Ghanaians to vote the NPP out because they have ruled for the past 8 years? Then again, does Alhaji Boniface consider NPP delegates so naive and out of touch with reality to such an extent not to see into his outrageous lies claiming that his boss Mr. Kyerematen was not part of Government for the past 7 years? Until his resignation in January 2023, Mr. Kyerematen was the Minister of Trade and Industry after serving in that capacity since 2017. Alhaji Boniface himself served under the NPP government first as minister for Inner cities and Zongo Development and then later as the minister of state at the Office of the Vice President. Thus, Alhaji Boniface has no moral authority to claim that he and his boss Alan Kyerematen have not benefited from the 7 years of NPP government. His claims are blatant lies that expose his ingratitude and greed for which he is prepared to stand on to make sure our party does not win the 2024 elections since his boss is bound to lose the presidential primaries.
It is obvious that Alhaji Boniface and the few people around his boss are dazed by the chorus of support received by H. E. Dr. Bawumia from delegates since he started his campaign tours. Visits to two regions, Greater Accra and Ashanti, have given meaning to all recent polls that put H. E. Dr. Bawumia ahead of his contenders and establishing him as the ultimate choice to lead the NPP to break the 8 in 2024. Alhaji Boniface and his team should remember that their pronouncements and actions are reminiscent of similar comments they made in 2008 which derailed the clear chance we had then to break the 8. They continued with such behavior after 2008 until all NPP supporters saw into their divisive and pessimistic posture and chose to work hard with optimism for victory in 2016 and 2020.
In conclusion, the NPP delegates and supporters are optimistic and confident about the future of the party and the nation, not pessimistic and fearful like Alhaji Boniface and his team. They will choose the best candidate, H. E. Dr. Bawumia who can continue the good works of President Akufo-Addo and offer a better alternative to the incompetent and corrupt NDC. The NPP will not go to opposition for 40 years but will rather break the eight-year cycle and win a third consecutive term in 2024 with Dr. Bawumia as flagbearer. The time has therefore come for Alhaji Boniface and his campaign team to slow down with their pessimistic attitude and stop giving arsenal to the NDC to deploy against us.
Thank you.
