THE "ADURU ME SO" SLOGAN BY ALAN KYEREMANTENG CONOTES A SELF ENTITLEMENT

In the run up to the internal Presidential primaries of the NPP, one of the aspirants, Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng and his campaign team members have been chanting "aduru me so", which means "it is my turn."
The implication of this is that, Mr. Kyeremanteng is of the view that he is next in line to become the flagbearer of the NPP as though it is a family inheritance that has been willed to him by his ancestors. Question is, if that is the case, why then does he go round begging delegates for votes? How do you beg for something that has been willed to you?
Mr. Kyeremanteng and his team should quickly come to the realisation that we are in a democratic era where people vote based on ideas, experience and capabilities, and not because someone claims to be next in line.
If "aduru me so" were to be enough basis to lead a political party, there wouldn't have been the need for elections. We, as a party, would have just proceeded to the Independence Square tomorrow morning and *Swedru declare* him. Better still, Mr. Kyeremanteng should just go to the Electoral Commission tomorrow and file his papers as the Presidential Candidate of the NPP for election 2024.
Once Mr. Kyeremanteng is on the campaign trail, just like the other aspirants, he should rather focus on telling the delegates why he believes he is the best candidate to lead the NPP going into election 2024, and stop the gimmicks of "aduru me so", which is not being bought by our discerning delegates nationwide anyway.
