He started when we all started  but came to the public light when most of us  came into public light as a Special Assistant to the Governor of Bank of Ghana. Question is why do you think an NPP Governor of Bank of Ghana would appoint someone who is not an NPP to be his special Assistant? Then President Kufuor appoints him as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana. Second Question is what makes anybody think Prez Kufuor would appoint anybody who is not NPP into a very sensitive position of Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana. During this period He became one of the most trusted advisors on Finance of President Kufuor, s Govt. He was one of the Technical advisors of Hipc, EZwich, Millennium Challenge Fund and the Budgets of the NPP Govt. In the process he became a very close friend and advisor to the late Baah Wiredu. He stuck with Nana Addo and NPP through two failed election  attempts. Led the non legal team to put together the key exhibit, the pink sheets and became the key witness for the Party. A good one too. He stuck with the party in it's most difficult times. He is smart, humble and knowledgeable. I went to a rally with him when he could hardly speak twi  at Patase, in Kumasi. Next time I met him he was speaking Twi and Wontumi was speaking English. He understands politics. Of course he was born into a political family and married to a wife who was also born into a political family. He became the most outstanding Vice President in our history with clearly defined widely acknowledged  achievements. It has never happened in our History and ranks among the very few in the world. What an amazing feat. Whatever the case maybe there definitely will be a candidate who is muslem and from the North. We are extremely lucky to have a Muslim who was once a Christian. Indeed a Methodist church member who was Boys Brigade. This coincidence will be hard to be repeated. So he comes on board with a very deep understanding of Christianity.  If this is not God given nothing else is. He has acted as  President several times. No wonder everybody who is a cabinet minister now except those running supports him. Simple. He will be a solid President who has earned the respect of all who have had the opportunity to work with him.  He is not on an ego trip. His candidature is a calling. It is a calling by all of us who form the elders and the bigger  leadership of NPP who are calling him to come and lead. I feel I owe it to my children, my grand children, my friends and my country to lead the charge to bring this very unique man to take our country  to the next level. To take our country from the margins of the world and put us right in the mist of the key players of the world. I will get up, I will get from my sick bed and tell the world that the person for this moment is Vice President Alhaji  Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
