Hajia Rashida Poanaa Mahama has been a member of the New Patriotic Party from birth and has stayed loyal to the ideals and principles of the NPP over the years. 

She has been close  to the Nalerigu/ Gambaga constituency over the years in various ways.

She is currently the Municipal Chief Executive officer of the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly. 

*Educational background*

Hajia Rashida Poanaa Mahama had her Secondary Education at the Bolgatanga  Girls Secondary School in the Upper East Region of Ghana. 

She continued her education at the Tamale College of Education where she trained as a professional teacher. 

She furthered her education at the University for Development Studies where she underwent studies in Development Studies at both the degree and MPhil level. 

She also has a certifcate in human rights from Toronto- Canada. 

*Work life*

Having served as a Class Teacher at various places, Hajia Rashida Poanaa Mahama became an Assistant Director of Education and also worked as Assistant Headmistress at the Vittin Senior High School in Tamale prior to her appointment as MCE. 

She was appointed as the North East Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme and further got appointed as the Municipal Chief Executive officer of the EMMA. 

*Political life*

Hajia Rashida Poanaa Mahama was a Personal Assistant to the current Ghana Ambassador to the United States of America, Hajia Alima Mahama for several years.  

Her role as PA gave her the opportunity to be of tremendous services to women in the North/East region especially the Nalerigu/ Gambaga Constituency where Hajia Alima Mahama was the Member of Parliament.

She contested and got elected as the New Patriotic Party  Womens Organiser for the North East Region.  

She was of critical support to women for the period she served as their organiser.  

She introduced most of the women to entrepreneurial opportunities  and also created positive networks for them.

She became the North East Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme during which period she created opportunities for women in the area. 

She is currently the MCE of the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly and promises to be of continuous service to the people as their Member of Parliament when the time comes. 

Hajia Rashida is an advocate for rights of women and it is her Intention  to continue to promote their  rights in any endeavour.

She has a huge networks, development oriented, passionate about positive outcomes and profoundly accessible to her constituents.
