Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has, without a doubt, proven himself currently as the most popular political personality in the Tempane Constituency of the Upper East Region. This is as a result of his many years of hard work and selfless service to the Republic of Ghana and to the good people of Tempane in particular, who happen to be his immediate constituents. 

Throughout his years in public service and in other private arrangements, Bash, as he is affectionately called, has not missed any opportunity to bring development to his constituency, Tempane, and to contribute to improving the living conditions of his people, through servant leadership. Bash, who was born at Basyonde, a suburb of Tempane, spent the early part of his life in Tampane and Bawku where he received his basic and second cycle education respectively. 

He proceeded to St. John Boscos Teacher Training College where he was trained as a professional teacher; then to the University for Development Studies to study BA in Integrated Development Studies; and then to the University for Education, Winneba where he obtained a Masters in Human Rights Law and Governance. Bash also holds master of philosophy (MPHIL ) in Public Policy from the University of Ghana, Legon. 

He has undertaken other short courses locally and internationally, especially in the United States, Canada and Germany. Throughout his educational journey, Bash, who can aptly be described as a “born-leader”, held various positions of leadership and delivered his mandate to the admiration of all. Simply put, Alhaji Bashiru is an embodiment of servant leadership. 

In the political field, Bash has proven himself as a consummate politician and an ardent follower of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition. He’s lived his entire adult life serving the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in many capacities.

Alhaji Bashiru is also a renowned Party Communicator, speaking for and on behalf of the NPP on various television and radio stations across the country for over two decades and counting. Indeed, in recognition of his age-long service as party communicator, Bash was appointed to the position of Upper East Regional Communications Director of the NPP (2009 2011). Equally, for his hard work and commitment to the welfare of party grassroots, Alhaji Bashiru was overwhelmingly elected as Regional Youth Organizer of the Party (2014-2017). 

Another unique attribute of Alhaji Bashiru that is worth mentioning is his investment in the youth of this country. He has more than committed himself to identifying and grooming young talents across the country and from the Upper East Region in particular, which endeavor, he has taken as his personal project. Today, because of him, there are many young people from his home region and elsewhere studying at Universities in Ghana and abroad.

Alhaji Bashiru is an epitome of the popular saying that, “instead of giving people fish, rather teach them how to fish so that they can go out and fish for themselves”. Even before becoming the Deputy CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, Alhaji Bashiru had committed himself to finding employment opportunities particularly for his constituents and the youth of Upper East. And upon becoming the Deputy CEO for YEA, he has secured thousands of job opportunities for the youth. 

Alhaji Bashiru doesn’t just touch lives, he transforms lives. This trait has endeared him to all. It is thus not surprising that today, he is, without a doubt, one of the most popular ‘young politician’ from the north of the country. His popularity is infectious. His generosity, humility, and compassion are topnotch and almost unassailable. Even his political opponents have not hidden their admiration for the great personality he is made of. 

The NPP is today the most popular political party in the Tempane Constituency because of the exploits of Alhaji Bashiru. It is for this reason that there are overwhelming calls from party executives in the Tempane Constituency and the entire Upper East Region for Alhaji Bashiru to consider contesting in the upcoming NPP Primaries when the Party opens nominations. 

It is widely believed that Alhaji Bashiru is the only Parliamentary Candidate that can guarantee the NPP an automatic recapture of the Tempane seat in 2024, and to bring the needed development to the Constituency. That is why the Chiefs of Tempane, the religious leaders in Tempane, the Youth of Tempane and indeed the rank and file of the NPP in the Tempane Constituency are all calling on Alhaji Bashiru to do the needful and take up this challenge. 

Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, you are indeed a blessing not just to the good people of Tempane and the Upper East Region, but also to the New Patriotic Party and Ghana at large.
