Arguably, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been the best Vice President in the history of our 4th Republic. It is definitely not a fluke the kind of support he received across the country in his regional campaign tour. Currently, there is no household in this country that does not  have the Footprint of Dr. Bawumia. 

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has since 2012 worked his way to our homes with his special competence in Digital economy. 

Before Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the Office of the Vice President was seen as a docile entity where occupants were bullied by even Presidential staffers and advisers but Dr. Bawumia with his  special competence has since changed the status quo. Elections in our 4th Republic has not witness a time where the selection of running mate has taking a center stage in our public discourse but today what do we see? This is all because of the standards Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has set for  office. 2024 election and Future elections will  use Dr. Bawumia's competence and performance as benchmark for the selection of it running mate.

People can deny the fact that Dr Bawumia's impact as Vice President has been instrumental and beyond all past Vice Presidents but the truth is in the past no one even talked about Vice President like they are doing  now to even talk of blaming them for the economic challenges facing the country. 

Today we read and hear people including academia who are supposed to no better blame Dr. Bawumia on the problem that is facing the country all because of their expectations of Dr. Bawumia which unfortunately has the limitations of our constitution.

As I write now Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been able to successfully championed over thirty three (33) initiatives which have been evident in our homes , schools and workplaces and are on the lips of a even the class 1 child. These are initiatives which everyone know about it and call them Dr. Bawumia initiatives where there see , use or experience them.

Before I take my readers through the initiatives I would like to put on record that, Dr. Bawumia and  all the other Vice Presidents past and future Vice Presidents can only champion policies  it ends there the sole power of implementation lies with the President.

Below are some of the thirty three initiatives championed by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia since he took office as the Driver's mate. For the purpose of this write up I would like to talk about few of them as follows;

First of all I would like to start with Mobile Money Interoperability  the introduction of Mobile Money Interoperability by Dr. Bawumia has since brought convenance to  homes of Ghanaians as people do not have to go to banking halls for financial transactions and again markets women need not to carry huge somes of money on them for their businesses. Today because of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia  one can receive money directly on their phones without going to the banking halls this is convenance . Again, anytime one is able to pull mobile from his bank account to his Phone at night it is because  of Dr. Bawumia's name.

Zipline Drone Delivery Services, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia inspired by the death of his father as a Vice President has championed the use of drones to deliver essential medical products to hard to reach areas. Since the commencement of the Service, over a Million blood and Vaccines have been delivered to safe equal number of lives in those areas. For me personally I think the introduction of Medical Drone Delivery Service alone puts Dr. Bawumia ahead of the polls.

One Constituency One Ambulance, before Dr. Bawumia there have been about four (4) or so Vice Presidents yet  the country could only boast of only Ten (10) or so semi functional ambulances across the country but today with Dr. Bawumia as Vice President he has been able to championed for every constituency or District to have a well befitting ambulance and recruited staff to all the over 375 centers.

Same day NHIS renewal, Ghana card as Guarantor for student loan, 

Digital address System ,

Ghana Card issuances ,

Motor Insurance Database, one can now check the status of any car they sit in wether or not it is insured.

KAYAYEs Hostel and Training Facility,

E- Pharmacy, 

One Student One Tablet 

System to track Ghost names, Ghana.gov platform to mention a few. 

In conclusion, I will say Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has done extremely well compared to previous Leaders  who has occupied the office given the limited secondary  power attached to office.  

With these and many other I think it is highly unfair and inconsiderate to blame a Vice President who have championed thirty three (33) life changing initiatives when previous Vice Presidents including John Mahama did none.

Yes people may have had their expectations because  of the competence of Dr. Bawumia even before  he took role but the truth is it is what it is. The constitution does not allow him to go beyond what he has done so far as the Vice President (Mate) so it will only be fair to give him a chance to be the President for him to meet the  expectations. With his personal vision I have no doubt Ghana will see massive development under his government and Ghana will not be left behind when it comes to technological advancement.
