The Assin North Constituency bi-election is a very crucial elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in that, internal elections' campaign should not affect it at all, if we all mean well for the party. The rally itself shows that the NPP needs that seat badly to further strengthen it's parliamentary majority caucus. The presence of the bigwigs of the party, including the President and his Vice President, was an obvious manifestation that, winning the Assin North seat contest is not a child's play and for that matter trivial issues should not be given any attention at all at this very critical moment.

What really happened? Was it a calculated attempt by Dr. Bawumia to belittle Hon. Alan? Or Hon. Alan intentionally failed to observe protocol to give Dr. Bawumia the required honour by pulsing his speech when there were all indications that the Vice President was entering the rally ground?

These are legitimate questions that need to be answered objectively without any malice. The spokesperson of the Vice President, Dr. Gideon Boako has issued a statement clarifying the issue, stating the facts as it occurred on the rally ground. According to the statement, what happened was not intentional or calculated attempt to belittle any presidential aspirant of the party but was just a move by the Vice President to locate his seat first before the president after both of them had gone to pay a courtesy call to the chief of Breku. In any case, per protocols and security arrangements, under no circumstance should any activity be carried out when the President or the Vice President is about to enter the grounds of any occasion in Ghana. I think, this is public knowledge.

On the issue of why Hon. Alan continued to address the electorates when the President and Vice President were about to enter the rally ground is another angle that needs to be addressed. Objectively and by observing the facial expressions of Hon. Alan in the video, one can tell that, Hon. Alan did not intentionally continue to address the crowd when the Vice President was coming in. When Hon. Alan noticed that His Excellency, the Vice President was coming in, he  pulsed suddenly to give him the needed honour. I believe, Hon. Alan would have timely stopped his speech if he had the hint earlier that the President and his Vice were about to enter the rally ground as protocol demands.

I think, it was a communication gap between the President and his entourage who went to visit the chief of Breku and the organizers at the rally ground. There was no any malicious intention from both Hon. Alan and Dr. Bawumia to disrespect or belittle each other as some people want us to believe. It was a simple communication gap.  It is very unfortunate that the supporters of Hon. Alan has deliberately since the occurrence of the incident gone to the political market to cry foul over nothing. This is purposely to sling mud at Dr. Bawumia for no fault of his. It is disheartening, to say the least, how Alan's supporters are doing all they can to divide the NPP instead of preaching unity. What is really their motive? It is about time Hon. Alan called his supporters to order.

In conclusion, it is obviously evident that there was no any deliberate attempt or intention by either Hon. Alan or Dr. Bawumia of disrespecting or belittling each other but it was purely a communication gap that occurred which has nothing to do with them in persons. One can confidently state that, the supposed belittling incident is another propaganda tool by the Alan's supporters, of which, I believe, has no any form of endorsement from Hon. Alan himself and should not be accorded any serious attention. All our efforts should be channelled to winning the Assin North Constituency for the NPP and Hon. Charles Opoku. It is possible. In Shaa Allah.

Thank you
